Premium fuel at the price of regular? Here’s where you can fill up for less

In Croatia there are a few petrol stations where you can still find premium fuels at the price of regular ones. Before 15 July 2025 there were dozens of such petrol stations in Croatia, but since the Croatian Government stopped regulating fuel prices, petrol stations have ended the practice of selling premium fuel at regular prices.

INA no longer sells premium fuels at regular prices

Until that date, at some INA petrol stations you could also find petrol (EUROSUPER 95 CLASS PLUS PREMIUM) and diesel (EURODIZEL CLASS PLUS PREMIUM) at lower prices. However, there are no longer any such stations in Croatia.

At all INA petrol stations you will generally find both regular petrol – EUROSUPER 95 CLASS PLUS – and premium, but you will always pay the full price for premium. INA says that since fuel prices were deregulated, premium fuels have become somewhat more affordable compared with regular ones, but many drivers preferred to pay a lower price for better-quality fuel.

Premium fuels at INA stations contain more additives than ‘regular’ ones, which some drivers notice as a real difference in mileage and a smoother drive thanks to the better-quality fuel.

Petrol stations with lower premium fuel prices

What remains today are Petrol’s petrol stations – six of them in Croatia. At these stations you can buy premium diesel at the price of regular:

  • SPLIT – Dujmovača
  • ROVINJ – Ulica braće Božić
  • POREČ – Pical resort
  • POREČ – Kasinožići 60
  • MALINSKA – island of Krk
  • GOLI VRH – Karlovačka 5

Below is also a map with the locations of these petrol stations to make them easier to find. The fuel in question is premium diesel labelled Q MAX EURODIZEL, sold at the same price as Petrol’s regular diesel, EURODIZEL AD.

Petrol may introduce the same practice as the other oil companies in Croatia, but for now it remains the only retailer where you can save on premium fuel.

Why did retailers have this practice before?

Under the law in force before July 2025, oil companies had to sell premium fuels at regular prices if their stations had no pumps for regular fuels.

Since liberalisation, this practice has become increasingly rare. A small tip for all drivers – some petrol stations have fewer pumps for regular fuels, and these are sometimes hidden or moved to a less visible spot.

When filling up, check whether the nozzle and the display say you are filling up with regular or premium fuel.
