Unlike petroleum product prices in Slovenia and Croatia, fuel prices in Serbia change once a week, usually on Fridays, although in exceptional circumstances they can change more often. Serbia’s Ministry of Internal and Foreign Trade sets the maximum price of petroleum products every Friday between 9 am and 3 pm, which petrol stations must then comply with.
The retail price of oil and fuel in Serbia depends on the price of crude oil and other factors, such as petroleum product quotations, the exchange rate of the Serbian dinar against the dollar, transport and insurance costs, and economic conditions in the country.
The price of fuel in Serbia is made up of several elements: taxes, excise duty and retailers’ (petrol stations’) margins. According to the latest data, state levies make up the following share of fuel prices in Serbia: 47.7% for BMB 95 petrol, 42.6% for Eurodiesel and 40.1% for TNG autogas.
According to data from 2022, there are a total of 1,559 petrol stations in Serbia.
