Where is fuel currently cheapest?

According to currently available data, Bosnia and Herzegovina has the lowest prices for both petrol and diesel among the countries we monitor.

On the other hand, Croatia and Serbia currently have the highest diesel prices in the comparison, while petrol is also among the most expensive in the region.

It’s important to note that fuel prices differ from country to country because of different tax policies, excise duties, government regulations and market conditions. As a result, the ranking may change after each price update.

Advice for drivers before a trip

If you’re travelling through several countries, it pays to check in advance where fuel is cheaper. The difference in price per litre can mean savings of ten euros or more on a single tank, especially for diesel vehicles.

Our team also recommends filling up, where possible, at petrol stations away from motorways. In many European countries, prices at motorway service stations are higher than at petrol stations in towns or away from main routes, so a short detour off the motorway often pays off.

How do we collect the data?

Nafta.hr regularly monitors officially published fuel prices and data from competent institutions or national price-monitoring systems in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Austria and Hungary.

All prices on this page are retail prices valid on the date of the last update. We refresh the page regularly so that drivers always have access to current information.
