As in Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, prices in Slovenia generally change every 14 days.
The retail price of petroleum products in Slovenia is made up of: the selling price excluding taxes, the environmental charge for air pollution from carbon dioxide emissions (CO2 tax), the energy efficiency contribution (URE contribution), the contribution to support electricity generation from high-efficiency cogeneration and renewable energy sources (OVE+SPTE contribution), excise duty and value added tax (VAT), which is charged on all the previous items.
Petrol and diesel prices at petrol stations on motorways are calculated based on movements in petroleum product prices on the world market and the US dollar exchange rate against the euro.
Fuel prices in Slovenia are generally higher on motorways, but petrol stations on motorways and expressways set their own prices.
